Welcome to Raising Hero, a blog that will chronicle raising a puppy Kevin Behan’s Natural Dog Training Way.   Natural Dog Training uses the dog’s natural cooperative instincts to create a well adjusted, loving member of the family.  Natural Dog Training is vastly different from the present model which sees the dog as either part of a dominance hierarchy or a little learning machine.

I have begun this blog after taking my own “Hero’s Journey”.  Fifteen years ago,  I raised a dog using the popular model and the effect was a disaster.  It broke my heart to have created a dog that was aggressive to people, so much that he had to be put to sleep. I began a quest to find the truth about dogs and that quest lead me to Natural Dog Training and Kevin Behan.  For the last 15 years I have been studying under a person I consider to be a modern day Galileo.  I have a wonderful 8 year old German Shepherd raised Kevin’s way, and the proof is in the pudding; he’s amazing.  I hope you will enjoy hearing about raising a puppy in a totally new way.
